Household ("Household," "we," "us") helps Christian families share a short daily faith moment together. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be readable, not just legal.
Household is operated by Household. Questions or requests: hello@householdfamily.com.
The short version
- We collect only what the app needs to work: your account, your household, and the things you create in the app (prayers, questions, memory-verse recordings).
- We never sell your data, show ads, or use third-party advertising trackers.
- Children do not create accounts. A parent enters a child’s first name and birthday so the app can pitch each question to the right age.
- You can delete your account and all of its data at any time.
What we collect
Account. Your email address and a password (stored securely, never in plain text) so you can sign in and your family’s data syncs across both parents’ phones.
Your household. The parent name(s) you enter, your chosen gather time, and your family focus.
Children’s profiles. For each child, a first name and birthdate, plus an optional focus area. We ask birthdays (not ages) only to calculate each child’s age tier at runtime so questions are age-appropriate. We do not request a child’s last name, photo, or contact information.
Content you create. Prayer-journal entries, questions you log in the “questions jar,” and your progress through the devotionals. If you choose to record a child reciting a memory verse, that audio recording is stored in your private family library and is only accessible to your household.
Purchases. If you subscribe, our payments partner records your subscription status (for example, active or expired). We never receive or store your full card details; Apple or Google handle payment.
We do not collect location, contacts, photos (beyond a recording you explicitly make), advertising identifiers, or analytics that track you across other apps.
How we use it
- To run the daily devotional and personalize it with your children’s names and age tiers.
- To generate the morning brief’s short “context note” (see “AI” below).
- To sync prep and progress across both parents in a household.
- To remember your prayers, questions, verses, and keepsakes over time.
- To manage your subscription.
We do not use your information to advertise to you, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
AI personalization
The morning brief includes one short, pastoral “context note.” To generate it, we send the night’s fixed theme, your family’s focus area, and recent questions from your jar (which may include a child’s first name) to our AI provider, Anthropic, which returns the note. The note is connective wording only; the AI never changes the devotional’s teaching, and a safeguard discards any output that drifts off-topic. Anthropic processes this request to generate the note and does not use it to train its models on your data. If you prefer, the app shows a non-AI version of the note when AI is unavailable.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — secure hosting of the database, file storage, and sign-in.
- Anthropic — generates the context note described above.
- RevenueCat — manages and verifies subscriptions.
- Apple and Google — process subscription payments through their stores.
Each provider may only use the data to deliver its service to us.
How your data is protected
Data is encrypted in transit. Each household’s data is isolated by row-level security, so one family can never read another family’s information. Recitation recordings live in a private storage area scoped to your household.
Children’s privacy
Household is designed for parents and guardians (adults) to lead a family moment. Children do not sign up, log in, or use the app on their own. A parent chooses what limited information (a first name and birthday) to add for each child, and the parent can edit or remove it at any time. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Access or edit: manage your household, children, prayers, and questions inside the app.
- Delete: you can delete your account and all associated data, including recordings, by contacting hello@householdfamily.com (or via in-app account deletion where available). We remove your data from active systems promptly and from backups within a reasonable period.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel anytime in your Apple or Google account settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, to access, correct, or delete your data). Contact us and we will help.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your household’s data as described above.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
